It’s about how his passions for life and music bloomed from living in Montreal and the Hudson River Valley and eventually New York City. If hearing the story of his mother threatening to kick him out of the house if he was gay doesn’t pierce your heart, then nothing will. They are the stories of growing up with an incredible music legacy beginning with his mother, singer Kate McGarrigle and her sister Anna, his father Loudon Wainwright III, and the people and the places that made him the man who he is today. These stories are often heartbreaking and touching and sometimes at the same time, and just like in his music, he opens himself up wide to the world. The setting is Rufus Wainwright taking a road trip with his therapist and telling very introspective stories of himself and his family from a very young age up until his early adulthood.
